CASTILLO HERMANOS AND ARPA: MOBILE TECHNOLOGIES TO BOOST THE GUATEMALTECOS POR LA NUTRICIÓN PROGRAMME

At ARPA, we celebrate a new milestone achieved by the Guatemalans for Nutrition Programme, promoted by Castillo Hermanos, a pioneering initiative in Latin America that seeks to eradicate child malnutrition through a comprehensive and sustainable model.

ARPA's contribution: mobile solutions for health and nutrition

Since the programme began, ARPA has had the honour of participating by contributing what we do best: designing and manufacturing mobile infrastructure that brings healthcare and nutritional care to where it is most needed. For this initiative, we have developed Nutricampamentos and Nutrimóviles, modular mobile clinics that integrate consultation, diagnosis and nutritional support spaces, enabling us to reach communities in highly vulnerable conditions.

These units have been designed to operate in demanding environments, ensuring autonomy, efficiency and rapid deployment. Thanks to its versatility, the programme can offer health and nutrition services in rural and urban areas, bringing immediate solutions to families and contributing to the sustainability of the model.

Results that make a difference

The report presented by Dr. Sophia Aguirre of the Catholic University of America in Washington confirms historic advances in the communities served:

  • Acute malnutrition in children under 5 years of age fell from 6 per cent to just 0.38 per cent.
  • Recurrent illnesses in pregnant and breastfeeding women were reduced by up to 76 per cent.
  • Nutritional consumption per household increased by 17%.

A shared milestone

The new breakthrough presented by Castillo Hermanos reaffirms the importance of joining forces between businesses, civil society and academic institutions. At ARPA, we are proud to be part of this alliance, which is marking a turning point in the fight against malnutrition in Guatemala.

This project demonstrates how technology applied for social purposes can become a driver of change, contributing to the well-being of thousands of families.
